Our chapter is
thankful to have a home
away from home located
in Hattiesburg, MS on the
Southern Miss Campus! This
house is home to many movie nights, sisterhood events, sleepovers, and study sessions. More info on our home below!
Membership requirements include two semesters living in the Alpha Chi Omega house

  • Back and front of house parking available (access to the house is available to residents from both parking lots)

  • Houses up to 29 women (2 to a room)

  • Private room for Chapter President and Resident Assisstant

Leadership Opportunities

Our chapter offers
members the opportunity to engage in leadership positions as soon as
they join. With 15
executive board positions, and 30+ non-executive chair positions, we offer vast room for our sisters to develop leadership and
professional skills!

Learn more about our leadership positions below!

  • Elected by chapter members

  • Serve one-year terms

  • Attend national and local leadership trainings

  • Chair committees consisting of non-executive position holders

  • Attend weekly meetings enabling time management and responsibility

  • Gain experience in public speaking

  • Maintain relationships with staff advisors

  • Represent Alpha Chi Omega on campus

  • Communicate with Alpha Chi Omega Headquarters

  • Oversee events and programming

  • Gain organizational skills

  • Work with a team

  • Contribute to chapter development

  • Attend committee meetings enabling time management and responsibility

College Panhellenic Membership 

When joining a sorority, you also accept membership into the College Panhellenic at your university.

The College Panhellenic Council (CPC) at Southern Miss is what connects us to the other eight CPC chapters on our campus, as well as our national organization, the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). NPC joins chapters all across the nation together and has created unanimous agreements and bylaws for all chapters that are unified under this conference.

CPC allows our members to:​

  • Run for leadership positions outside of our chapter

    • College Panhellenic Council (CPC) Executive Board​

    • Gamma Rho Chi - Recruitment Counselor

    • Junior Panhellenic Council

    • CPC Judicial Board

  • Build connections with women in other chapters at Southern Miss

  • Learn about and participate in the National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Intrafraternity Council's events and activities

  • Represent a large body of students at Southern Miss

  • Be apart of Fraternity & Sorority Life at USM

Community Service

Kappa Sigma expects our members to complete eight community service hours per semester. Hours should be verified through USM's Get Connected platform.

Members are involved in various community service projects throughout the semester with different organizations. Southern Miss has a platform titled, "Get Connected" that we use to find community service opportunities for ourselves and our sisters. Members also complete several community service hours by serving our philanthropy, domestic violence awareness.
